The consecration of the renovated Municipal Swimming Pool of Edessa was performed today by the Bishop of Edessa, Pella and Almopia Mr. Ioel, in the presence of the Mayor of Edessa Yiannis Mouratoglou, vice mayors and the former mayor Dimitris Giannos.
Mayor Mouratoglou stated:
Today we handed over to the citizens of Edessa and the wider region an important sports facility, the fully upgraded and energy-shielded Municipal Swimming Pool of our city. This is the first regional Municipal Swimming Pool in our country that has received such a large intervention of energy shielding and will enable us to operate for 12 months.

PROJECT INFORMATION:
The Municipal Indoor Swimming Pool of Edessa operates under the responsibility of the Municipal Public Benefit Enterprise of the Municipality of Edessa / Department of Sports. It is located in the green area of Kioupri and is part of the Municipal Sports Center of Edessa. It was founded in 1978, initially as an open and then as an indoor athletics center having undergone several renovations and upgrades in its operation.
It has 2 organized, heated sports swimming pools, measuring 25x15x1.70-2.15 (375m2) and 6 lanes, while the second children's swimming pool is 12x10 (120m2). It also has equipment to control the water quality of the swimming pools, as well as auxiliary bathroom, WC & changing rooms. Swimming competitions, polo games can be organized in the swimming pool, having bleachers for the public 180+120 seats, as well as individual/group recovery & rehabilitation programs.
The company TECHNOKYKLADIKI SA, signing a contract with the Municipality of Edessa on 20/05/2022, undertook the implementation of the project "Energy saving and RES interventions in the building of the Edessa Indoor Swimming Pool", with an eligible budget of €1,140,000, within the framework of the Operational Program "Operational Program "Transport Infrastructures, Environment and Sustainable Development" 2014-2020" (ESPA 2014-2020) of the Ministry of Development & Investments, with the co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union. The energy upgrade procedures were implemented, in collaboration with the Technical Service of the Municipality, within the certain deadlines and it is expected to be officially handed over to the citizens for use in September.
